[KR1465] Keiser Report: Punishment Bonds and Bitcoin on Mars

In this episode of the Keiser Report, Max and Stacy discuss the negative yielding ‘punishment bonds’ causing pain to investors in Europe as negative yields soar into less negative territory.

In the second half, Max talks Dhruv Bansal of Unchained Capital about ‘bitcoin astronomy’ and how “the desire to travel far away to start a new blockchain will turn out to be a powerful driver of human expansion throughout the future of our species.” And, if we get to Mars, can we mine bitcoin there? Or is it too far from the ‘center of hash?’

    Re: Trudeau “Open” To Handing Out Taxpayer-Funded Heroin To Vancouver Addicts

    Had a very interesting conversation about this subject about the approach taken by Portugal with a wise German world traveler.

    He told me that in Portugal they decriminalized all drugs which means that if caught with drugs they don’t put you trough the criminal justice system but instead take a social approach by checking if your drugs use isn’t destroying your live and look if they can help you via a reasonable conversation because if you put people trough the criminal justice system you essentially destroy their working lives by giving them a bad report.

    With all the money you save by not having to use vast amounts of tax money for crazy swat teams and prison guards and what have you one can put 3 social workers on each severe case of drug so that society becomes much safer banning mafia gangs and not needing police gangs.

    Who would have thought that a country like Portugal, which was the latest country becoming a democracy in Europe, could come up with such wise an very reasonable approach to a big social problem.

    Portugal’s radical drugs policy is working. Why hasn’t the world copied it?

  8. @youri – I think the US keeps our insane ‘war on drugs’ regime because it’s a jobs programme; a very, very expensive one, but a jobs programme nevertheless

    What happens if China thinks Apple is a security issue just like Huawei for the Americans?

    @Stacy Herbert

    Yeah, I was thinking about you guys because you have been talking so many times on this subject, the U.S. prison gulags.

    Sheriffs who have to promise a minimum amount of getting prisoners to fill the prison so they can become profitable for a few but costing the taxpayers a lot, and destroying human lives in the process, by keeping people in prison for minor drugs possession. That sounds like Stalin 2.0. to me because Stalin ordered a minimum amount of “enemy of the state” executions in every village, methodical terror of the public on it’s finest.

    So maybe Dmitry Orlov was joking. Because the so-called ‘Wirtschaftswunder’ was simply because building up all the destroyed cities provided much work also in Eastern Europe and Russia. I wouldn’t say that was all thanks to Stalin. More despite him.

    I’ve been in Romania just after the fall of Ceausescu and everything was still stuck in the fifties.

    @Stacy Herbert

    Anecdotal is what I hear on honest talk shows like Joe Rogan’s that almost every average or not average U.S. citizen has a prison story to tell. That surprised me.

    @Stacy Herbert

    So I’ve done some world traveling myself and shared my apartment with a Ukrainian (then still Russia) artist for a year which was about cracking jokes all day about the Russian propaganda while the system was falling apart.

    That kinda wisdom more rare in the U.S. yet think.
